Dell offers three tiers of deployment service, and the gap between them is the difference between a forklift of bare-metal boxes that your team has to image by hand and a fleet that arrives configured, validated, and ready to enroll. The Three Deployment Tiers
Dell structures its deployment services across the data center (PowerEdge, PowerStore, PowerMax, PowerScale, PowerProtect) and client (Latitude, Precision, OptiPlex) portfolios. The tiers are consistent in intent even when the deliverables differ by product line.
- Basic Deployment covers physical installation and verification. A technician racks the hardware, connects power and networking, applies current firmware, and confirms the system powers on and passes initial diagnostics. Configuration of the OS, hypervisor, storage pools, or applications is your responsibility.
- ProDeploy adds remote or onsite configuration. Beyond installation, Dell engineers handle firmware baselining, OS or hypervisor installation, iDRAC setup on servers, and integration into your environment using a deployment guide built from a pre-deployment planning call. - ProDeploy Plus is the full-service tier. It includes everything in ProDeploy plus advanced configuration, project management for complex multi-site rollouts, data migration assistance, training credits, and access to Dell technical experts. For data center gear this often means clustering, multipath storage configuration, and integration testing.
The decision usually comes down to internal bandwidth. If your team has the staff and the runbooks to image and configure at scale, Basic plus your own automation may be enough. What Drives a True Zero-Touch Rollout

- Factory provisioning. Dell can apply your custom image, BIOS/UEFI settings, asset tags, and firmware baseline on the factory line before the unit ships. For clients, this is delivered through Dell's factory imaging and provisioning options; for servers, through pre-configured iDRAC and firmware baselines.
- Connected provisioning for clients.
